Star-crossed lovers in the Wild West

With music and lyrics by Rodgers and Hammerstein and a handful of classic songs, ‘Oklahoma!’ has been dubbed the first feel-good musical.
 Now Belinda Lang and Gary Wilmot are preparing to take to the stage of the Alhambra Theatre, Bradford, as Aunt Eller and Ali Hakim in the show which is set in cowboy country in the early 1900s.

The musical tells the story of two sets of star-crossed lovers: Cowboy Curly loves Laurey, Aunt Eller’s neice, but Curly’s rival is the mysterious and dangerous hired-hand Jud Fry. Meanwhile Ado Annie is torn between cowboy Will and peddlar Ali Hakim.

Their stories are told with the help of some of the most beautiful songs in musical theatre history including ‘Oh! What a Beautiful Morning’, ‘People Will Say We’re in Love’, ‘I Can’t Say No’ and ‘Kansas City’.
