The annual Hebden Bridge Brass Band March Competition saw six of the finest bands strutting their stuff down the town’s streets.

Marsden Silver Band were crowned overall winners with the City of Bradford Band and Elland Silver Band following in second and third place.

Best Road March went to the City of Bradford Band and Best Hymn Tune came from Marsden Silver Band.

Thomas Fox picked up the award for Best Junior Instrumentalist for his cornet performance with Elland Youth Band.

Best Calderdale Band went to Hebden Bridge Junior Band with Littleborough Brass Band congratulated for their performance, despite finishing in sixth place.

Organiser Steve Gardner said: “It went extremely well and there was loads of support from the local community despite the numbers being a bit down on previous years.” It was the fourth time the event has been held and next year will see a revamp.

Mr Gardner said: “We want to keep the standard high and involve some great bands.

“We’ll be looking for more sponsors to help this great community event.”
