The captivating story of Marie Marvingt, one of France’s first female aviators, will be told in the show ‘Head in the Clouds’ at Square Chapel arts centre, Halifax, on Saturday, April 18, at 7.30pm.

Known as the ‘fiancee de danger’ because of her risk-taking, Marie won a flying contest in 1911, two years after stepping on a plane for the first time, and disguised herself as a man to serve in fighter squadrons in the First World War. After her true identity was uncovered, she championed the idea of flying ambulances and later learned how to drive a train and pilot a steamboat.
Her thrilling story will be told through puppetry, storytelling and live music. For tickets contact the box office on 01422 349422.
