Ben's lessons in how to be a Beast

Professional actor Ben Eagle took time out at a recent con- cert to pass on top advice to upcoming star Jack Moorhouse.

Jack is tackling the role of the Beast in Halifax Amateur Theatre Youth’s forthcoming production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at Halifax Playhouse.

Ben played the same role in Halifax in 2010 before training at the Central School of Speech and Drama. Since then he has performed in productions all over the country.

Ben and Jack met up to chat about the role and try on the original masks from the 2010 production which are being lovingly restored by their creator, freelance make-up artist Rebecca Cawthra.

A cast of 35 talented youngsters has been hard at work rehearsing singing and dancing for the show, based on the Disney classic, which is being staged from Tuesday, October 25 to Saturday, October 29.

The show is at 7.15pm with 2.15pm matinees on October 27 and 29.

The musical, based on the book by Linda Woolverton, follows the familiar story of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ with well-loved songs including ‘Be Our Guest’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and new additions such as ‘Home’ and ‘Human Again’.

The music is by Alan Menken with lyrics by Tim Rice and Howard Ashman.
