A play which opened at London’s Royalty Theatre in 1892 is setting a huge challenge for the young actors from The Workshop in Halifax.

Brandon Thomas’s immortal farce Charley’s Aunt is set in St Olde’s College, Oxford, and involves misunderstandings, mistaken identity and the complicated romantic entanglements of three undergraduates.

The cast includes Charlie Cornforth, Jack Boothroyd and Edward Haigh (pictured). Artistic director Mike Ward said: “The play presents a huge challenge to the young cast, several of whom are appearing with the company for the first time.”

Charley’s Aunt is staged at The Workshop, Halifax, from September 24 to 28 at 7.30pm. Tel: 01422 323688.
