Dance 4 All, Victoria Theatre, Halifax

More than 300 talented Calderdale youngsters bursting with enthusiasm and energy lit up the stage with passion and pride as they took part in the show stopping Dance 4 All extravaganza at the Victoria Theatre, Halifax.

Entitled ‘The Joy of Dance’ this 11th spectacular featured dance styles from every genre. Tap, ballet, street, combination and creative styles sat side by side and provided audiences with a show which echoed diversity and dynamism. Classic and contemporary in perfect partnership.

The participants who ranged in age from tots to teenagers showed their passion for dance as they created rainbows of colour in their creative costumes which added the finishing touches to this wonderful celebration. Audiences were transported to venues as diverse as ‘The Circus’, ‘Never, Never Land’ , ‘New York’ and ‘Paris’ for the celebrated Can Can -and with the music as eclectic as the dance styles all connected with the show created a winning formula resulting in beaming smiles from performers and also from the auditorium!

From the quiet solemnity of the ballet routines such as ‘Black Swan’ to the mesmering tap numbers , which included the classic ‘Anything Goes’ to the West End musical favourite ‘Sister Act’ and the up to the minute dance track ‘Gossip Folks’ the stars of the show clearly relished their moments in the spotlight and ‘The Joy of Dance’ shone through.

And the joy of the evening was further enhanced when former Dance4All pupil and world record wheelchair racer Hannah Cockcroft presented the awards for the evening.

Since its inception Dance 4 All has embraced diversity and this belief combined with the dedication of its team of talented teachers once again resulted in a stunning show with the emphasis on fun!
