Fifty years ago The Kinks set the template for the ‘Swinging Sixties’. With their sharp fashion sense and glorious, infectious and witty pop songs, The Kinks packed the charts with classic hits. Tribute band The Absolute Kinks will celebrate the musical legacy left by The Kinks at Square Chapel arts centre, Halifax, on Saturday, October 11, at 7.30pm. Their set will be packed with all the hits including ‘All Day and All of the Night’, ‘You Really Got Me’ and, of course, ‘Waterloo Sunset’.
Tristan Bernays will present ‘The Bread and The Beer’, a one-man ballad exploring the myths of Britain - ancient and modern- on Sunday, October 12, at 7.30pm. In the show John Barleycorn awakes from a long sleep to find a world of grey and lifeless people. Call 01422 349422.
