Group follows the yellow brick road

Students at the Stage Door Studio Theatre Workshop will be following the yellow brick road to HalifaxPlayhouse next week when they present the musical '˜The Wizard of Oz'.

Poppy Hornby-Parr takes the role of Dorothy in the fun show which is being staged from Wednesday, October 12 to Saturday, October 15. Performance times are 7.15pm from Wednesday to Friday and 2.15pm on Saturday.

The cast of young people aged five to 19 years has been coached by Anne Redfern and Janet Fletcher.

Anne said: “We specialise in keeping students motivated and aim to achieve a disciplined approach to all aspects of stage work in well-structured, low cost, value-for-money weekly classes.”

‘The Wizard of Oz’, famous as a film starring Judy Garland, was adapted from L Frank Baum’s book.

It tells the story of Dorothy and her dog Toto who join up with Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion on a series of fantastic adventures, encountering the Wicked Witch of the West, Glinda and the Munchkins along the way. The well-known songs include ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’ and ‘Ding Dong the Witch is Dead’.
