Le Tour is coming to Yorkshire this summer and what better way to celebrate the French “joie de vivre” than with a joyful musical tour of Saint-Saens wacky animals in the company of The Naturalist. Dance with the elephant, glide with the swan, create an underwater aquarium...
Suitable for children from three years, with plenty of appeal to parents and grandparents, “Le Tour des Animaux” is a new interactive show that will tour during the Yorkshire Festival. Devised by Michael Charlton it uses a new arrangement of Carnival of the Animals by Deborah Pennington and specially commissioned poetry by Jan Holdstock. Classical music group, The Aire Ensemble, will be joined by Leeds based professional actor Paul Ratcliffe. All the musicians are highly talented professionals who work and reside in Yorkshire.
Performances of “Le Tour des Animaux” will take place throughout the 100 days of culture at a variety of venues from small community halls and churches to larger theatres in Yorkshire. The penultimate performance will be at the Victoria Theatre, Halifax, on June 29, 1pm
Tickets: £9 adults, £6 children, £21 for a family of four (includes £1 theatre support fee per ticket).
