A larger than life panto star will dance in a tutu in a performance with over a 100 children.
Neil Hurst will take to the stage with children from Halifax’s Babyballet dance school in a performance at Huddersfield’s Lawrence Batley Theatre on Sunday (May 18).
Neil, a singer, actor and comic, has written and is taking part in his first ever Babyballet show.
The Halifax babyballet show called `Twinkle’s Big Day Out’ features local three-and-four-year-olds, the majority of whom have never appeared in a live show before.
Also on stage with them are Babyballet characters, Twinkle and Teddy the Bears, Flutterby the Fairy and Chuck the Cowboy.
Neil, who hails from Halifax and has appeared on West End stages and TV shows like ITV’s All Star family Fortunes as Vernon Kay’s sidekick, is Granddad Jack in the Babyballet show.
Last year the company brought out its first DVD which featured Neil as Granddad Jack. It has had rave reviews from child experts and parents and more than 2,000 have been sold.
There are two shows on Sunday, at 1pm and 5pm, and they have been choreographed, produced and directed by Babyballet owner Claire O’Connor and teachers, Donna Greenwood and Laura Simeunovich.
Other teachers taking part in the show include Elizabeth Gunson, Lucy Crabtree and Hannah Butcher.
“We are thrilled Neil is taking part this year and family and friends of our babyballet stars can’t wait to watch it. The children are so excited too. Tickets are selling fast but there are still a few left so come along and join in the fun,” says Claire.
Tickets are available from the box office on 01484 430528.
