The Works in Sowerby Bridge prides itself on the variety of talent it attracts for its comedy nights - and Saturday, May 31 will be no exception with a showbiz legend and one of Canada’s hottest comedy exports sharing the stage.

Headlining the comedy bill is veteran entertainer Sol Bernstein, described by the Guardian as ‘one part Alf Garnett, two parts Mel Brooks and three parts like nothing you’ve ever heard’.

He escaped the pogroms in Russia, the Nazis in Germany and made friends with Elvis, Judy Garland and the Rat Pack - or did he?

Dana Alexander has caused a stir on the UK comedy circuit since arriving from Canada. Her fresh and irreverent comedy style sees her chatting about everything from family relationships and sex to modern culture. She recently earned a host of new British fans with her appearance on Russell Howard’s Good News.

Also on the bill is Chris Brooker, who is taking time out from being Russell Kane’s tour support, and compere for the evening is Bill Woolland.

Tickets are £12.50 from The Works on 01422 834821 or from www.theworkssowerbybridge.co.uk.
