There’s nothing better than a live audience

With Justin Live!, Justin Fletcher’s live stage show, due to hit Halifax soon, we thought we would have a chat with the BAFTA Award-winning star himself to talk about his love of performing and to find out a little about the show.

WHAT CAN FANS EXPECT FROM JUSTIN LIVE?

Justin Live! is a fun-packed show for the whole family. It’ll have you on your feet singing and dancing. There are lots of well-known songs to join in with and plenty of laughs to be had! Children, mums and dads, grandparents – there’s something in it for everyone.

YOU WROTE THE SHOW YOURSELF WHICH IS GREAT! WHERE DID THE IDEA FOR A LIVE SHOW COME FROM?

I really love performing to a live audience. There is nothing quite like it. Seeing children singing along and laughing, it’s really wonderful. You also get a feel for the songs and routines that work and sometimes those that don’t! That interaction with the audience is why we do it.

SOME OF YOUR WELL_KNOWN CHARACTERS WILL BE APPEARING IN THE SHOW, CAN YOU GIVE US A HINT AS TO WHO MIGHT APPEAR?

Well I think that is a secret. You’ll have to wait and see!

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE CHARACTER TO PLAY?

I love playing all my characters but I would say that Mr Tumble has to be my favourite. Something Special has really made such a difference to so many children’s lives. I feel

very lucky to be a part of that in my role as Mr Tumble.

DO YOUR AUDIENCES HAVE A FAVOURITE?

It’s very hard to say. I think the mums and dads enjoy some of the Gigglebiz characters. Many children enjoy the live action of Justin’s House but I think across the board Mr Tumble still comes out on top. The reaction when he comes out on stage is sometimes quite overwhelming.

WILL THERE BE A LOT OF OPPORTUNITY FOR THE AUDIENCE TO GET INVOLVED?

Yes, we’ll have everyone dancing in the aisles I hope! There’ll be lots of songs that

everybody knows and plenty of opportunities to join in. It really is an interactive show.

WILL PARENTS ENJOY THE SHOW TOO?

Justin Live really is a family show. I hope everyone will have a great time.

HOW IMPORTANT DO YOU THINK IT ISTHAT CHILDREN GET TO EXPERIENCE THEATRE AT A YOUNG AGE?

I went to the theatre from a very young age with my family and still remember how exciting it was, sitting in an auditorium, watching performers onstage and feeling part of something really special. My show is often a child’s first theatrical experience so we really try to make everybody feel involved and go home afterwards feeling like they’ve had a great time.

Justin Live! comes to the Victoria Theatre on November 8&9. Details from box office 01422 351158.
