SOME of Calderdale's bright young entrepreneurs have been getting hired and fired in their very own version of hit television show, The Apprentice.
And despite their 'Sir Alan Sugar' proving a bit sweeter than the real thing, the candidates were certainly worth their salt.
The day gave eight youngsters from Calderdale schools the chance to show their entrepreneurial spirit in a series of tasks across Halifax including designing products and setting up a stall in Halifax Borough Market.
They were then assessed by a panel of 10 judges including Craig Hamer, owner of Dews Motor Group, who adopted the role of Sir Alan for the day.
Craig, 32, said: "I don't think I'm quite as mean as him and they are big shoes to fill, but the candidates didn't give me much to be angry about.
"They are all really talented and had great spirit and I'm sure will go very far."
The winner was 15-year-old Adam Kenny, of Holy Trinity Senior School, Halifax, who dazzled judges with his quick wit and gift of the gab and was awarded a computer at Halifax Town Hall.
He told the Courier: "It was a great day and I'm very pleased to have won.
"I would like to try to be an entrepreneur in the future but we'll have to see how it goes."
The event was organised by Calderdale Council's Children and Young People's Service.
