A RACE night to raise funds for a teenager who died earlier this year was a great success.
The event was organised by staff at Moorside Primary School, in Ovenden.

Hundreds of pounds were raised for the fund dedicated to Bobby McBride, 17, who died after fighting the muscular disease dermatomyositis.

The avid snooker player suffered complications as a result of the painful condition and died on January 28.

He was a former pupil at The Ridings and Moorside Primary.

School secretary Sue Davison said: "The school has ties to Bobby's family and we also wanted to host an event that would bring the community and school together.

"We thought it would be very fitting to raise money for the fund set up in Bobby's name.

"It's been a great success."

The race night was held at Illingworth Liberal Club, which has previously hosted events in memory of the teenager.

The club gave prizes for a raffle.
