CHILDREN buried a time capsule to celebrate 10 years in their school building.
They collected audio recordings talking about the school, newspapers, CDs, data files and pictures to be placed under a concrete slab in the garden at Withinfields Primary, Southowram.

Each class added something for the time capsule.

Other events to celebrate the 10th anniversary included music performances and a street party.

Head teacher Duncan Hetherington said: "It was a very successful day. The children thoroughly enjoyed it."

The first school on the site was put up in March 1877 and the new building opened in March 1998.

The party took place a month late because of the Easter holidays.

Former pupils and staff talked about the history of the school and the first headmaster, the children played games and had a street party – complete with bunting.

They also made ceramic tiles with Flying Saucers cafe, Hebden Bridge, which will be displayed around the school.
