Artist celebrates familiar Calderdale scenes with selection of limited-edition prints at The Piece Hall
Calderdale based artist Roger Davies is celebrating aspects of the local area in a selection of brand-new limited-edition art prints.
Subjects include The Piece Hall in Halifax, The Rex Cinema in Elland, The Richard Oastler in Brighouse, and a summertime street scene featuring a ‘Welcome to Calderdale’ road sign.
Roger has been exhibiting his work in Brighouse and Halifax since 2018 and also appeared on the BBC One TV Show ‘Home Is Where The Art Is’ in April 2019.
Many of his paintings feature local places and familiar landmarks, all presented in his own unmistakable style.
He said: “I love where I live, and I’d like to make a positive contribution towards the rich artistic heritage which we have here in West Yorkshire.
"Many artists whose work inspires me come from this area, and I aspire to follow in their footsteps.”
Roger Davies’s artwork is currently on display at Off The Wall, a gallery/shop in The Piece Hall, Halifax.
As well as Roger’s new prints, Off The Wall offers a continually changing range of around 200 pictures with a humorous twist: originals and prints of their time by 50 artists and illustrators such as Ralph Steadman, Gerald Scarfe, Ronald Searle, Heath Robinson and many more.
Off The Wall is located in the middle of The Piece Hall’s South Colonnade and is open daily from 10.30am until 4pm.
