The second Todmorden Open Studio event was officially launched by local and renowned artist Mary Loney, accompanied by Mayor of Todmorden Coun Steph Booth and a whole host of the artists taking part.

Drinks and nibbles where shared and everybody enjoyed the musical interlude from The Science of Flood Prevention and Terry Logan and Friends. In addition to the 48 artists listed in the event brochure there are also guest artists and organisers say interest has been so high that extra venues have been added to accommodate all the fabulous paintings, photography, stoneware, jewellery, 3D works and much more that will be on show this weekend, September 12 and 13.

Organisers report the event has doubled in size since last year and in addition to the listings in the brochure, available from local tourist infiormation centres and libraries, works can be seen at Three Wise Monkeys, Café Cava and Bare Arts.

Participating artists are opening their studios and homes to visitors and works on show are available to buy direct from the artists.

A spokesperson said: “Many of the artists also offer workshops and tuition so if you’ve ever wanted to express yourself a browse through the studios may open up a whole new world.

“Keep an eye out for the brochure in which you will find a comprehensive map so you can plan your trip and many of the venues offer refreshments, so you can make a day of it - support your local artists and get a finger on the pulse of local art.”
