Evening of Ted Hughes
Ted Hughes is widely recognised as one of Britain's greatest poets.
He is also one of the most controversial.
The events of his life and the breadth and influence of his poetry were the focus of a major documentary Stronger Than Death that screened on BBC in October last year - featuring the first TV interview with Frieda his daughter to Sylvia Plath - alongside a rich seam of testimony from family members, friends, fellow writers and poets, including Simon Armitage who filmed at the Hebden Bridge Picture House for the documentary.
The screening will be followed by a question and answer session with Richard Curson Smith, the film’s director; Ross Wilson, its creative director and Mark Bell, BBC Head of Commissioning, Arts.
Doors open 4.15pm, the film starts at 5pm, Q&As will commence at 6.30pm.
