Mytholmroyd festival - inclusive and inspiring

This multi disciplinary festival will provide an opportunity for anyone to access high quality contemporary art within a welcoming atmosphere.

Mytholmroyd already has a thriving arts scene, supporting both local art as well as attracting exhibitions from a variety of artists from further afield.

The festival will be an extention of this.

“We aim to animate public spaces and contribute to the perception of this area as a positive and creative place in which to live and work,” said chairman of the festival Kathleen McGrath.

The countdown to the event starts with its launch on Thursday, July 16 at Mytholmroyd Community Centre.

The event has received funding from Calderdale Council and Arts Council, England.

In October 2015, the first Mytholmroyd Open will be held at St Michaels Church Hall as part of Arts Festival.

Art work will be selected from uploaded digital images by a judging panel.

Artists who have been successful will be invited to bring their work to show at the Mytholmroyd Open.  

The judges panel will be led by Stella Mays, winner of the 2011 BBC wildlife artist of the year award, and local resident.

During the exhibition, the judges will select a winner who will be awarded a prize of £200. There will also be a prize for the People’s Winner.
