It was a welcome return for the chart-topping singer-songwriter – aka Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson – who first appeared at the historic Halifax venue in 2022 supporting Swedish alt‑folk duo First Aid Kit.

“Halifax baby, we are back at The Piece Hall… and this time we are the main event!” CMAT told the sold-out crowd.

Over the next two hours the Irish star gave her adoring fans hits from her debut album If My Wife New I’d Be Dead, follow up Crazymad, For Me and massively successful Ivor Novello–winning EURO-COUNTRY.

Opening the show with Jamie Oliver Petrol Station, CMAT followed it with fan favourites When A Good Man Cries, Running/Planning, Have Fun! before The Piece Hall united as one for a mass dance-a-long version of viral hit Take A Sexy Picture Of Me.

A spine-tingling cover of Kate Bush’s Yorkshire-inspired anthem Wuthering Heights was followed by Where Are Your Kids Tonight and a three-song encore of EURO-COUNTRY, I Wanna Be a Cowboy, Baby! and Stay For Something where CMAT jumped into the crowd to create a Piece Hall-style catwalk for a brilliant finale.

“It’s really special to be back here,” CMAT said to the crowd, “I feel a real kinship for the place. The people of Yorkshire have always given us our best gigs, but tonight Halifax –you’re winning!”

Singer songwriter Katy J Pearson opened the night with a superb set.
