Plum pairing ends year on a high

For its final Live Music event of this year, The Workshop in Halifax is delighted to welcome back the fantastic Plumhall.

Michelle Plum and Nick B Hall are a feisty Yorkshire- based due whose award winning self-penned songs are winning them plaudits from the likes of R2 Magazine (four stars), Miles Hunt of The Wonder Stuff, Steve Knightly of Show of Hands and many more.

The pair deliver guitar and harmony driven textures of folk, Americana and pop, and have been wowing audiences on the live acoustic circuit in the UK. Winners of the Yorkshire Gig Guide Outstanding Songwriters award in 2014, the duo’s debut album ‘Thundercloud’ was hailed one of The Guardian and Observer’s Hidden Gems of 2014.

The Workshop is indebted to Plumhall for helping to launch the venue’s Live Music Events in 2013, and for the duo’s continued support of the theatre.

Support for the evening comes in the shape of two wonderful solo performers. Dave Vermond has been described as West Yorkshire’s best-kept songwriting secret, and he is certainly a secret worth uncovering. Dave is a uniquely charismatic performer whose songs evoke tears of laughter and tears of poignancy in equal measure. Bella Gaffney is a rising star on the Northern folk circuit. She writes folk- inspired songs which she performs along with her own original arrangements of traditional pieces.

The gig takes place on Saturday, December 5, doors open at 7pm with music at 8pm. Tickets at £6 are available on the door or tel: 01422 323688.
