Stand Alone standing out

Local rockers Stand Alone bring their talents to The Gundog pub in Halifax tonight (July 10) on the back of a well received debut EP, ‘Nothing Is Forgotten’ which has received favourable reviews since being released at the end of last year..

The band is made up of three friends; Gav Stevenson(guitar/lead vocals), Luke Harrison (Bass) and Tom Durrans (drums) . They met after playing in various bands aroundBradford.

They became Stand Alone when they discovered a shared love of rock music and a frustration of playing in too many covers bands.

This was when they realised the time was right to get their own material out there, laying bare their West Yorkshire roots.

The band channelled all their energy and hard work into a twenty minute CD of pacey melodic rock.

The result is an EP which was released independently and can be bought on ITuness.

They have toured extensively together across the UK playing big city gigs in Leeds, Sheffield, Cardiff and Leicester.

“The band is tighter and closer than ever after this experience and we’re starting to catch the eye of local DJ’s and promoters,” says Gav who lives in Hipperholme.

“The EP is a cross between the vocal harmonies of the Beatles and the angst driven riffs of Alter Bridge.

“All three of us share a passion for heavy rock music which we have interpreted into the EP drawing on different subjects from anxiety to the problems in today’s society.”

The band has been championed by Alan Raw of BBC Introducing and he has played three of their tracks on his BBC show in recent months.
