Stuart takes over as B&R’s first manager

Stuart Lingard has become Brighouse and Rastrick Band’s first manager in its 132-year history.

Since 2010 he has held the position of principal cornet of the band and helped B&R to victory in the National Championships in 2010 and 2011.

He was appointed as business development and band manager after a three-month selection process. He will be responsible for managing and developing the band’s engagement diary, developing new collaborations and overseeing the day to day running of the band.

Paul Beaumont, band president, said: “Runni ng a top-flight band is getting more and more complex and demands more of a time commitment from everyone involved. It has now gone past the level where it is appropriate to rely on the goodwill of our players and dedicated volunteers.”

Stuart started playing cornet at the age of seven with Kingsway Youth Band. He has also played with Williams Fairey Band and Yorkshire BS Band.
