Commuters at Brighouse railway station were given an early musical treat on their way to work thanks to talented young brass players.

The Warley Academy band helped launch Brass Factor 2014 by performing at Brighouse train station before boarding the Grand Central train to King Cross to perform for crowds down in London.

Organiser Alex Bray said: “We’re delighted that Grand Central are sponsoring Brass Factor for the fourth consecutive year, demonstrating their commitment to music and youth brass.

“I’m extremely excited about this opportunity as we begin the run down to Brass Factor 2014.

“It’s brilliant that we got this unique opportunity to not only launch Brass Factor but to help showcase both the wonderful talents of the Wardle Academy and the brilliant service that our sponsor, Grand Central, brings to the community.”

Gwen Smith, of Wardle Academy band, said: “Being involved with this event will be brilliant, to perform and watch musicians with much more experience is even more fantastic. I’m delighted that such a young band can go along to the Brass Factor and gain valuable experience.”
