A Dickens of a Christmas line-up

There will be plenty of opportunities to get in the mood for Christmas and enjoy some festive family fun at Square Chapel arts centre, Halifax next week.

Young audiences will be able to enjoy the magic of the stories of the ‘Arabian Nights’ with Story Pocket Theatre on Wednesday, December 23 and Thursday, December 24 at 11am and 2pm.

Music, puppets and live theatre will transport the audience to a wonderful world of mystery, magic and adventure.

Charles Dickens’ popular favourite ‘A Christmas Carol’ will be re-told on Saturday, December 19 at 7.30pm. Gerald Dickens, great great grandson of the author, will perform 26 different characters to bring the vivid and exciting story of Ebenezer Scrooge and Tiny Tim to life.

Film fans, young and old, will be able to sit back, relax and revel in some classic movies.

John McClane fans are in for a treat today, Friday, when a double bill of ‘Die Hard’ movies, featuring Bruce Willis, will be shown at 5.45pm and 8.15pm.

On Sunday, December 20, acoustic duo Chris Newman and Maire Chathasaigh will present Celtic Christmas Strings - a feast of harp and guitar music - at 7.30pm.

Other films being screened this week include ‘Frozen Singalong’ on Sunday at 2.30pm, ‘Miracle on 34th Street’ (1.30pm) and Tim Burton’s ‘Edward Scissorhands’ (8pm) on Monday and ‘Elf’ (1.30pm) and ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ (8pm) on Tuesday.
