A different look at death

'˜Learning How to Die' is not a show about being sad or about grief or pity. Instead it's a show about the actuality of dying and how an acceptance of mortality can drive a passion for life, help not to take life for granted and to be inspired by someone's death.

Artist Luca Rutherford asks what scares people about dying, and how can that fear be used to drive ones actions when alive.

The idea was triggered by Luca’s father’s terminal cancer diagnosis and a longing for an alternative to what she terms as ‘sympathy mode’,

“Acknowledging our own mortality makes us live better. But it’s hard to do. I don’t know how to do it but I am trying,” says Luca.
