Bailiff Bridge man to take the lead in The Pirates of Penzance in Halifax
Ashley plays the Pirate King in an irreverent take on the Gilbert and Sullivan favourite at the Victoria Theatre, Halifax, from November 13 to 16, including a Saturday matinee. Among the cast will be his wife Pippa, who plays Kate. Both have appeared together in the society’s recent shows, with Ashley playing the lead in “Me and My Girl” two years ago.
The Broadway version of “Pirates” provided a breakthrough performance in Manchester for Michael Ball, where Paul Nicholas played the Pirate King, a role for which Kevin Kline won awards on Broadway.
