Stockdill aims to bring us sunshine

Award-winning playwright Alan Stockdill of Halifax theatre company Talking Stock Productions is bringing a brand new production to the Viaduct Theatre on Wednesday and Thursday February 17/18.

Godfrey’s Last Love (Bring me Sunshine)’ is about retired cricket umpire and avowed socialist, Godfrey Shackleton who celebrates his recent lottery win with a lads’ trip to Morecambe and a beer or two.

His life changes once again when he bumps into twinkly widow, Betty, who’s visiting the Lancashire resort on a ladies’ bowling trip.Love, loss, hope, happiness, struggles and smiles, all come together in this charming tale of finding love in the third age.

The play stars Huddersfield actor Keith Royston as Godfrey and popular Halifax actress Marion Reynolds as Betty. Both are regulars on stage at the Halifax Playhouse and Actors’ Workshop. Todd Wilson plays his first role for Talking Stock as grandson, Justin. Sharon Kelly returns as Godfrey’s daughter, Donna, and Stockdill himself plays his best mate Freddy Fitton.
