Victoria Theatre to bring fun and laughter back to Halifax as it announces first comedy shows

The Victoria Theatre has announced plans to welcome theatregoers back into the theatre after over a year of remaining closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The venue will reopen with an exciting programme of ‘Spaced Out Comedy’ events initially operating with safety measures in place and socially distanced seating until the theatre is able to return to full capacity.

The theatre has also achieved the Visit Britain ‘We’re Good to Go’ and UK Theatres ‘See it Safely’ kitemarks by demonstrating dedication to the highest safety standards for staff and visitors.

The first event on Friday May 28 will see the return of the theatre’s hugely popular Dick & Liddy’s Comedy Club.

Originally hosted in the theatre’s Green Room Bar, the event will now be taking place in the theatre’s main auditorium.

The Comedy Club will also take place on Friday June 25 and Friday July 30.

Funnyman and regular performer at the Victoria Theatre and Halifax Comedy Festival Tony Vino will return as MC for some of the ‘Spaced Out’ comedy events, along with some of the finest comedians currently on the comedy circuit, including: musical comedian Duncan Oakley and French Comedian Marcel Lucont, appearing on Thursday June 3, Justin Moorhouse, as seen on Phoenix Nights and Live at the Apollo, along with Tez Ilyas, star of hit sitcom Man Like Mobeen (BBC Three) on Thursday June 10, and unique voice in British comedy Geoff Norcott, as seen on Live at the Apollo, Mash Report and Mock the Week, and former (double award-winning) Time Out Comedian of the Year Paul Tonkinson on Thursday June 24.

Britain's Got Talent Mandy Muden and hilarious stand-up comedian Hal Cruttenden as seen on Live at the Apollo and Have I Got News For You will be bringing the hilarity on Thursday July 8, and stand-up comedian, radio and TV presenter and voice-over artist Tom Wrigglesworth will be joined by acclaimed character comedian Simon Brodkin, most famous for comedy character Lee Nelson on Thursday July 22.

Star of stage and screen Tony Slattery is returning on Saturday June 5 with his unique take on a variety show to a wider audience.

There will be comedy, Q&As, and lots of laughs.

Multi award winning comedian Tom Binns aka Ivan Brackenbury claims to have discovered a genuine ‘psychic’ ability and now performs as The ‘Psychic’ Comedium on Saturday June 12. In his performances Tom clearly makes jaw dropping revelations about his audience but is he gifted or is he deluded?
