Trades fusion of jazz and folk

Two great bands are lined up to play the Trades Club, Hebden Bridge next month both with a distinct jazz/folk sound.

Metamorphic, led by Leeds based composer/arranger/pianist Laura Cole, is a contemporary jazz/folk group made up of some of the finest players and composers on the British jazz and contemporary music scene.

Kerry Andrew – voice , Chris Williams – alto sax, John Martin – soprano/tenor sax), Oliver Dover – bass clarinet, Seth Bennett – double bass, Paul Sandy – double bass, Tom Greenhalgh – drums.

They have released two albums; ‘The Rock Between’ and ‘Coalescence’, both to critical acclaim and have toured the UK.

Røyst Trio, led collectively by the three composers/voice musicians, Kari N Bleivik, Cecilie Giskemo and Maria Jardardottir, is an a cappella world/jazz/folk trio which has toured internationally with great success.

They released their debut album ‘Nordic Initiative’ in 2005 and this summer toured USA and Canada.

During this UK tour the two bands will play new material specifically written for the tour. The music will comprise elements from contemporary jazz, folk and world music which seeks to explore the dynamic fusion of the two ensembles’ creative musical expressions. 

The concert takes place on November 19 at The Trades Club, Hebden Bridge. Doors open at 8 pm and the music starts at 8.30 pm.
