Video: Today’s your chance to learn about the Great War - both at home and abroad
A brand new exhibition “For King and Country: Calderdale’s First World War Centenary 1914-18” has opened at Bankfield Museum, Halifax, today (Saturday).
The exhibition aims to give a taste of what the war was like for soldiers fighting abroad, but also looks at how they were supported by loved ones back home.

“So a lot of it’s about home life and what’s going on in this area one hundred years ago.
“We have also got a research room to help you look into your own family history.”
There will be guided tours throughout the day up until 3pm and the museum will close for the day at 4pm.
