The weather is on the turn and it’s that time of the year where you might be in search of a bit of light entertainment to take your mind off the fact that the nights are starting to draw in and Calderdale is getting chillier.

In search of some fun this weekend? Here’s what’s happening in Calderdale on Saturday:

For some mid-morning mindfulness, why not join David Wilson for a four-mile walk around Warley village. People are asked to meet in Luddenden village car park from 10am.

Halifax Art Society is hosting its annual exhibition at Bankfield Museum from 10am-4pm.

Also at Bankfield Museum today, local historian David Glover will talk about Franz Ferdinand and Sophie: The 1914 killings that changed Europe.

For a wheely good time, check out Halifax Speedway at Spring Hall, Huddersfield Road, Halifax, from 1-3pm. Visitors can cycle as many or as few laps of the track. The event is part of the Ravenscliffe@SpringHall Big Bike Bash which is taking part around Calderdale today and will culminate at the athletics track at around 3pm today.

Take some time out - we all need to now and zen - in the Mind Body and Spirit workshop from 10am-4pm at Holme St Arts Centre.

Sunday is filled with fun for all. Pushing it up a gear, a guided, mainly off-road, eight mile bike rike is taking place from Hebden Bridge to Luddendenfoot. Meeting at 10am in Hebden Bridge parl, near the tennis courts.

In Todmorden, there’s an eight mile walk with Fred Goonoo from Calderdale Ramblers. Meeting at Todmorden bus station at 10.30am.

Stroll around Sowerby Bridge in a heritage walk with Anne Kirker; exploring the town’s former civil war tales, Victorian history and more. Meet at 2.15pm by Parish Church gates, Sowerby Bridge. Admission is £3.
