Campaigners launch a share offer in bid to buy Halifax pub

Campaigners hoping to save the Fountain Head Inn, Pellon, have launched a share offer in a bid to raise funds to buy the pub and extend it both in size and types of services.

The Fountain Community Organisation Limited want to buy their local pub and develop it for the benefit of their community. It will become a true community pub owned by its regulars and supporters.

Dave Budgen, the landlord, said: “The new management of the pub will be dedicated not only to the community it serves but also the memory and history of Samuel Websters brewery.

“Well after all it was his birthplace and the first place that he brewed Websters beers with water from the Fountain springs back in 1838.

“We hope to see many Websters aficionados in the future and if we raise enough money in our share issue we will display many items of Websters memorabilia. On top of this we have made an agreement with a local brewer to revive and sell Websters Best along with the other craft ales we will be selling in the

future.”

Investors in the share offer will get many benefits including discounted prices and free entry into draw each for a £1,000 holiday voucher, as well as possible tax rebates and a vote at the annual AGMs.

The share offer closes on August 5.

The pub will be opening again on July 4 with all the precautions necessary to keep customers safe including a regulars/members only policy so they can track and trace any customers.
