Brighouse restaurant celebrates one year anniversary of re-launch

This weekend will see the one-year anniversary of new owners Greg Foggo and Lauren Midgley re-launching Brook’s restaurant in Brighouse.

The opening day, July 25 2019 was the hottest of the year and even the ice machine catching fire couldn’t spoil the celebrations.

Little did they know that their first year of operation would be so challenging, with the successful launch and a growing excellent reputation being interrupted by flooding in February only to be immediately followed by the coronavirus lockdown.

Previous owners Darrell and Petra established the business over 30 years ago. It has grown and modernised under Greg and Lauren’s direction, with expert support from head chef Dan Maxwell in the kitchen.

Having lived and travelled extensively in Australia, New Zealand and through Asia, Greg and Lauren refined their vision for modern British dining and great service in a relaxed antipodean style which they brought to Brighouse.

They pride themselves on using seasonal produce with frequent menu changes to make the most of available ingredients, including those foraged locally.

Feedback through social media shows that customers appreciate all that Brook’s offers: from excellent food, to great wines and cocktails in an informal environment, confirming that Greg and Lauren’s vision has a welcome place in Brighouse.

Under government guidelines, Brook’s reopened on the July 4.

The restaurant has been adapted to increase the space between diners and sadly has had to restrict access to the bar.

However, this has done nothing to dampen the great atmosphere.

Customers have been very supportive, and the restaurant was fully booked for the re-opening weekend.

Tables can still be booked ideally in advance, and people can pop in for lunch Friday to Sunday, as well as for Sunday brunch, and the full dinner service is available Wednesday to Saturday.

This year’s anniversary celebrations will need to be more low-key given social distancing requirements, but Greg and Lauren look forward to welcoming old and new customers to experience the best that Brighouse offers.
