Brighouse restaurant's heartfelt thank you as they announce closure after 20 years

Owners of the Prego Restaurant in Brighouse has started a consultation with staff over the potential closure of the business at the end of May.

At the time Owner Lidia Shinwell spoke about the devastating impact the coronavirus lockdown had on the restaurant..

The new about the sad closure this month.

Posting on their Facebook page the restaurant said: "It is with deep sadness that we must now confirm that Prego Italian Cafe Bar & Restaurant and the Waterfront Hotel and Venue will remain permanently closed.

"It has been a pleasure serving our loyal customers, joining in their celebrations and engaging in the community over the last 20 years.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank our committed staff, loyal customers, friends and suppliers and wish them all well.

"Serving you has been an honour and a privilege and we are delighted to have been part of so many happy memories.

An organisation is only as good as the people that work in it and the Waterfront and Prego team of cleaners, chefs, waiting and bar staff, housekeeping, pot wash, night porters have been incredibly loyal and hardworking. We cannot thank them enough.

"We would like to pay tribute to one incredibly special person who has been the face of Prego for 19 years.

"Vittorio Piliu, fondly known as Vito, has gone over and beyond to serve loyal customers, running the day to day operation, working often into the early hours.

"Huge thanks to Vito on behalf of the Directors and speaking for many customers for his customer service, commitment and passion over the years and thank you to his wife Susan and daughter Isabella for supporting him in his work.

"The good news is, our sister restaurant and hotel Da Sandro and Briar Court Hotel will be reopening their doors on Saturday July 4.

"If you have a future booking with us, we will be in touch soon.

"Any customers with redeemable vouchers can use these at Da Sandro and Briar Court."
