After research from BestHeating and Big Bathroom Shop revealed a third of Brits had been putting off their project due to not having enough time, the experts launched the competition to see the fantastic DIY transformations Brits have been working on now that we have more time at home.

The most common areas in the house receiving upgrades were the garden (25%), bedroom (17%), lounge (14%) and kitchen (14%), with over half of DIY-ers (51%) undertaking painting and decorating.

Describing her kitchen revamp, Adele said: “I merged the existing kitchen and dining room together to create a larger kitchen so I could have an island unit, then added a light well and two bifold doors for lots of extra light.”

The competition had over 140 entries with many amazing transformations submitted. The entries have been whittled down to a top 10 by a panel of interior expert judges.

Voting is now open to the British public until July 29 to decide the winner.

The other nine shortlisted DIY projects are:

Ceri Richards from Oswestry

Brenda Melaniphy from Littlehampton

Gareth Hutchings from Cardiff

Joe Johnson from Manchester

Laura Dunnings from Southampton

Michelle Klien from Manchester

Rebecca Lewis from Huddersfield

Kirsty Pearson from Cambridge

We can see the huge effort Brits have gone to in transforming their homes, from bathrooms to hallways, gardens and staircases.

“It has been both a delight and a tricky task choosing the top 10 shortlist with our panel of interior experts. We wish the nominees good luck and look forward to crowning a winner at the end of the month!”
