Visitors flock back to Brighouse as more businesses re-open

Weeks on from the re-opening of shops, Brighouse businesses are continuing to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Brighouse Business Improvement District (BID) has praised local businesses for their resilience during this uncertain time and hopes that the high street will see a return of visitors.

Brighouse BID marketing manager, Lauren Barber, said: “Brighouse high street has returned to business with non-essential retail given the green light to re-open from June 15 and each business has ensured the safety of their customers always comes first, making temporary changes in their stores, including limiting the number of people allowed in a store at any one time and contactless payments.

“The number of shoppers in Brighouse was up compared with the week before but remains low in comparison to this time last year."

Last weekend saw the re-opening of more town businesses including pubs, cafes and hairdressers.

“The decision to open pubs and restaurants came as a great relief,” said Michelle Veasy, marketing manager for Brighouse BID.

“We have a lot of fantastic pubs and a varied number of cafes and restaurants in the town centre that have missed out on VE Day celebrations, Easter holidays and the hot weather throughout lockdown.”
