Eclipse chosen to lead scheme to tackle fuel poverty in Yorkshire

As part of the scheme, a limited amount of funding has been made available to homeowners and renters across Yorkshire to make significant improvements to their home heating systems.

The pilot, set to be launched in Yorkshire in the coming weeks, is aimed at tackling fuel poverty, which is defined as when a household is spending more than 10 per cent of their income on fuel and heating costs.

The latest 2016 report estimates that over two million households across the country suffer from fuel poverty, representing approximately 10.6 percent of all English households.

Adam Hoyle, heating and installation manager at Eclipse Energy, who are based on Union Street in Halifax, said “This is an exciting scheme to be a part of, and to be the driving force behind bringing this to Yorkshire is a responsibility we’re happy to take on.

“We know that fuel poverty in Yorkshire is a particularly pressing issue. With thousands of homes that could benefit from this scheme we’re urging as many people to get in touch while they can. As this is only a pilot scheme we cannot say right now how long this funding or scheme will be around for.”
