Pete Owen, general manager of Origin Party Bar in the town centre, said: “It would have been easy for us to have been mad and upset that having just opened at Christmas that we are currently closed due to COVID-19, but that’s not the way we operate. We’ve dedicated ourselves to still deliver entertainment to the people of Halifax.

“Our venue has been live streaming on Facebook and various other platforms Thursday through to Monday every weekend since lockdown began and every night has a different music policy so we try to include everyone.

“This has been a great success we feel, attracting not only local viewers but from as far as Australia and the USA, with average views per show on the weekend reaching over a 1,000 a night.

“On Monday nights we team up with Mulligan’s virtual bar, a group with 30,000 members that is all run by volunteer admin and run by a man in Thornton in Bradford.

“This really is a time when diversifying what we do and shows our flexibility and commitment to delivering to the people of Halifax who still want to enjoy themselves but in a responsible way.”
