Halifax businesses unite with £5 deals for the Totally Locally Fiver Fest

Halifax businesses are uniting to bring £5 deals to shoppers as part of this year’s Totally Locally Fiver Fest.

More than 50 shops and businesses in Halifax have banded together for the initiative, taking place from February 20 to March 1.

The campaign aims to showcase the fact that small businesses can offer great value while continuing to support and care for the people who live in our town.

“Independent businesses are key parts of our community,” said Chris Sands of the Totally Locally national campaign. “Not only do they make our high streets and towns better places to live and work, but they also contribute hugely to our local economy.

"They never take the support they get from local people for granted, and Fiver Fest is a way of paying a little back to those customers.”

Natalie Shaw, Halifax BID Project Manager: “With the economic challenges facing us at the moment, it’s more important than ever for local businesses to think and work together.

“Halifax businesses are putting on lots of great £5 offers to say thank you to our customers, to give back to Halifax and to support our communities as a whole, while helping to keep our high street alive.”

Fiver Fest is a UK-wide campaign devised and run by Totally Locally, a grassroots high street organisation that has been helping businesses and towns to help themselves since 2010, with incredible results.

The campaign is built around the now well-known Totally Locally £5 message:

“If every adult in Halifax spent just £5 per week in their local independent shops and businesses, it would mean £17.2 million per year going directly into our local economy. This can lead to more jobs, a better high street, a stronger economy and a nicer place to live.”

Totally Locally’s Simon Waldren added: “We’ve seen huge increases in footfall during Fiver Fest, with many businesses reporting their busiest shopping days outside of Christmas. Fiver Fest shows that a small change in spending habits can really make a difference. By diverting just £5 of weekly spending to local independents, we give them a fighting chance to thrive and help keep our high streets alive. Fiver Fest makes that easy, and it’s fun.”
