Pro Wills and Estate Planning had their offer of the free service to 25 staff completely taken up with 24 hours.

Managing director Adam Probets said: “I had been thinking how I can show my gratitude to the frontline workers of the NHS and care workers - those who risk their lives for us all on a daily basis.

“Given I have my own law firm practicing in will writing and estate planning, I decided to offer a free will writing service for these people via telephone or post given the current regulations.

“We’re only a small, independent business but fortunately it’s in the position where we can make this gesture.

”I am not bothered about the money, this is just my way of really saying thank you for all your efforts on the frontline.

”Obviously there are so many other key workers out there - teachers, bus drivers, supermarket staff etc - who are doing such an important job, but it just wouldn’t have been possible for me to help them all.

“I’d heard on the grapevine that NHS staff across Britain had been told to sort certain things out given this pandemic and getting their will written was one of them and it inspired me to offer the service.

”The hardest thing for me was to find a balance on how many I could give away due to the time frame of writing a will.

”All 25 have now been drafted which took me the best part of 72 hours to do so but I couldn’t be more moved by what these people put themselves through on a daily basis.”

Katie Archer, an occupational therapist from Newcastle, said: “I contacted Adam after I viewed a post shared by a mutual friend on social media, which very generously offered a free will writing service for NHS staff and care workers.

”This was something I’ve been meaning to do for a while but never felt like I had the time. Adam dealt with my case efficiently and professionally.

“He provided me with informative knowledge in regards to the process and remained in contact to ensure my wishes and decisions were accurately documented. With the current unprecedented times, it doesn’t take away the worry of going to work, however it is reassuring to know my family can be protected a small way.

“Thanks again Adam for the incredibly kind gesture.”

Kate Sutcliffe, a healthcare assistant from Calderdale, said: “It was a really touching gesture. As a hca I’ve come into contact with Covid-19 and it made me question my own mortality and that I’ve never done a will before so seeing this was perfect.”

Julieanne Holroyd, a support worker from Calderdale, said: “It felt brilliant that Adam gave us key workers a chance to have this opportunity.”
