Harrogate Christmas shop window contest 2014

The winner of the Christmas shop window competition for 2014 has been announced.

The contest was organised by Soroptimist International of Harrogate and District in association with Harrogate at Christmas.

The competition was open to all shops that support Harrogate at Christmas.

Chair of Harrogate at Christmas Coun John Fox thanked all shops for their entries.

He said: “Over the past few years the number of entries has more than doubled.

“It gives our town a really good Christmas feel!”

Overall winner of the competition and awarded the Soroptimist Cup: Oxfam Bookshop

Winner of the multi national category: Hoopers.

Winner in the independent retailer category: Jespers of Harrogate with James Brindley the runner up. Highly Commended are Richard Grafton Interiors and Party Fever.

Winner in the charity shop category: OXFAM Bookshop with Cancer Research UK Beulah Street and Save the Children highly commended.

The judges also made a special commendation to the Royal Baths Chinese Restaurant for their external light display.

The judging panel included four Soroptimists, the manager of the Victoria Shopping Centre, a student from Harrogate college and a member of Harrogate Rotary Club.

Club President Andrea Trimmer and the Mayor of Harrogate Borough Cllr Jim Clark presented the Cup and certificates to the winners and those highly commented in the Mayor’s parlour on 2 December.
