Harvey's appoint new store director

Harveys department store in Halifax has appointed of Tony Murray as store director.

Mr Murray, 40, of Cheadle, Greater Manchester, has been employed at the store for almost eight years, firstly as sales development manager and more recently, as general manager.

Tracy Harvey, managing director, said: “I am delighted that Tony has accepted the position of store director which more accurately reflects his role and contribution to the business.”

“I am very proud to have been offered the new position at Harveys. This is a very exciting time for the business and I am very glad to be a part of it’, Mr Murray said.

Mr Murray has previously held roles with Flannels, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges.

Harveys was started in the 1920s by Edgar Thomas Harvey in a small unit in Dewsbury and by the 1950s had expanded to another three shops in Halifax, Wakefield and Harrogate.

The Halifax store was opened on the site of the old Waddington’s Dress Warehouse’ on Rawson Street and ran as a ladies fashion shop.
