“It feels right that we do what we can to support them” - Shibden Mill Inn delivers meals to care homes and NHS staff

The Halifax pub has also raised money to fund the initiative, and have so far generated more than £2,000 in donations.Max Heaton, from the pub, said: “We cooked 280 meals and delivered them to Overgate Hospice, Bridge House care home in Brighouse and Springfield care home in Bradford.

“We initially set a target of £1,000 just for NHS workers but because we received so many donations we extended it to care homes and Overgate.

“We are also looking for additional care homes that would like to be involved.

“Everybody at The Shibden Mill Inn are incredibly proud of the hard, life-saving work of the NHS.

”It only feels right that we do what we can to help support them. We unfortunately have limited skills in terms of health care but we do have bloody good chefs!

“This is particularly true for our head chef Will Webster, who is due this summer to marry a key NHS worker on the front line.

“He has seen the emotional and physical toll the current situation is having on the front line staff. 
“Will has decided to dedicate his time, unpaid, to preparing as many tasty wholesome meals to fuel their hard work. These will be delivered to our local hospital.
“Based on the donations made by our lovely customers, staff and friends we will aim to prepare as many meals as possible. 
“The Shibden Mill Inn will make up any additional costs, should the target not be met. 
“For every £500 raised, we will be able to make up meals to feed up to 250 valuable NHS staff members. 
“We know that this isn’t going to solve the COVID-19 pandemic, but it might just put a smile on a nurse’s face for a couple of minutes and save them a shopping trip.
