Ms Kon has already raised £800, and Knaresborough-based Newtons Solicitors is donating a futher £500 to sponsor the ride.

Ms Kon is currently training hard, cycling up to 44 miles at a time and running six miles three times a week.

She said: “I am not actually a very fit, or adventurous person, so this is a real challenge for me but I am determined to do the training so that I will be as prepared as I can be when I get out to Tanzania.

“I’m really grateful to Newtons Solicitors for their help which provided a real boost with the fundraising.”
