Local entrepreneurs shortlistedin Women in Business 2014 awards

Two Harrogate businesswomen have been shortlisted in the Forward Ladies Women in Business Awards 2014, whose headline sponsor is HSBC.

Charlotte Armitage is the owner of the Yorkshire Academy of Film and Television Acting, based in Spofforth, and has been shortlisted in the Start Up Business Woman of the Year category, sponsored by Microsoft. After only a year in business, she plans to replicate her classes in York, and introduce after-school clubs.

Ashlea Gill of Harrogate is shortlisted in the Young Business Woman of the Year, sponsored by O2. Her Hole House Farm brand has expanded into local markets and food festivals across Harrogate, York and Leeds.

Forward Ladies’ managing director Griselda Togobo said the standard of entries was one of the highest ever.

“This year we have a number of outstanding entries, from women of all ages, all professions and all walks of life.

“In our new Science, Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing (STEM) category, we have received some world-class entries, which have opened up the awards to a whole new and different audience of professionally qualified and truly dynamic women.”

The Outstanding Business Woman of the Year will be selected from the 12 category winners and announced in Leeds on November 28.
