Max saddles up for Overgate

The six cyclists covered the 170 miles from Morecambe to Bridlington, along the Way of the Roses, in just two days, raising £870 to date.

Max, son of the Inn’s owners, Simon and Caitlin Heaton, and his fellow riders Jamie O’Callaghan, James Speak, Nathan Shaw, Mitchell Standing and Charles Lovelock ate up an impressive 77 miles of road in the first day, stopping over in Ripon before completing 93 gruelling miles on day two.

“What an amazing two days it was,” said Max.

“It was full of memories that will last a life-time, such as catching first sight of the sea as we entered Brid - and the very welcome beers that followed – and Jamie’s comical fall off his bike outside York Minster, much to the amusement of the huge throng of tourists.”

It was an eventful two days, with the team’s support vehicle having two punctured tyres and the lads left feeling somewhat battered and bruised.

Max added: “We feel privileged to have completed the challenge for such a worthy cause, which makes all the blisters, aches and pains well worth it.”
