The Northowram company’s signature gin took the award, while their rhubarb gin was highly commended in the Flavoured Gin category.
Peter Speight, from the company, said: “As you can probably guess we are absolutely delighted and, we are still trying to absorb the magnitude of this award.”Our thanks go out to all our friends, family and customers who have supported this amazing journey.
“Over the past years, we have been developing our brand and perfecting our gins, which started with our signature gin and our aim was to create the perfect gin and tonic based around a floral bouquet.
“There are 12 botanicals used in our signature gin, most of which are kept under lock and key, to ensure the recipe is a Speight family secret.
“There is juniper, coriander, orris root, hibiscus flowers, elderberry, rose petal, wild rosehip etc.
“The overall taste is a floral bouquet and is like walking into a flower garden on a hot summer’s day where the sweet scent hits your nose.”
The Gin Guide Awards are a prestigious worldwide competition, with entries from more than 30 countries in categories based on production methods, styles of gin, and countries of production.
The winners are selected through a rigorous blind tasting process conducted by a large panel of distinguished gin experts, distillers, retailers and mixologists. Each gin’s appearance, aroma, flavour, mouthfeel, finish and overall quality and market appeal are assessed to determine the highest scoring gins, based purely on the spirit itself.
