It has been organised by Hollie Denby runs children’s bookshop Bella’s Books and has signed up several other businesses including Jupiter Moon Photo, The Stitching Station and The Edge Play Gym to take part.

She said: “I wanted to do something to help local independent businesses who have struggled or had to close during lockdown. My hope is that Brighouse’s first ever online community fayre will not only bring us local businesses together but also the community of Brighouse and encourage people to shop locally and support our town.

“It’s very important that the public support independent shops in Brighouse.

“When you shop locally, you’re helping a little girl get her first pair of shoes or a little boy have a trip to the zoo. Your support and custom make a big difference to smaller, often family-run, businesses, especially those that have been hit hard during the current situation.

“There are also so many incredible businesses, shops and eateries right on our doorstep that we’re not always aware of. I’m hoping this community fayre will highlight the variety of fantastic products and services Brighouse has to offer.

“Unfortunately no one knows how this pandemic is going to ride out, there could be a second wave and we will most certainly see the affects on the economy for the foreseeable future; some businesses have been forced to close indefinitely. However I do think we have a very strong sense of community in Brighouse and real local pride and companies are already finding new ways to adapt and change. This will go a long way in helping our local businesses to begin to thrive again.”

Each business will be given a 30-minute time slot within the event to either go live on video, post a pre-recorded video or photos and advertise their business or products to the local community.
Hollie has set the event up on Facebook and any businesses taking part will be made a ‘co-host’ of the event, meaning they can do a live video or post videos/photos on the event page throughout their allocated 30 minute time slot. The local community can then comment on the posts or ask questions and place orders throughout the whole day, and afterwards.
