Plans revealed to relocate Post Office in Halifax district

The Post Office is proposing to relocate Kings Cross Road Post Office to 259 King Cross Road, formerly the Mobility shop.

The current branch at 224 King Cross Road, is operated by a temporary postmaster, which has allowed it to continue to provide a service locally.

A new postmaster as been identified along with the alternative location. These premises are currently empty and will undergo a full refurbishment.

Hayley Brown, Post Office Network Provision Manager, said: “We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”

The Post Office said it would operate as a local style branch with Post Office services provided from two Post Office counters alongside the retail counter of the new stationery, toys and confectionery shop.

Opening hours would be Monday to Friday: 8.30am – 5.30pm; Saturday: 9am – 1pm.

This would – offering 49 hours of Post Office service a week.

This would be an additional 14 hours of Post Office service than currently offered, including opening Saturday morning and Friday afternoon.

The branch would also open earlier and it would close later every day. All of these changes would make it easier to visit the Post Office.

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move about accessibility into and inside the premises.

Feedback will close on March 3 2021. Customers can share their views during the consultation online at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 311418.
